I'm gonna break this in two...
quirky_circe kinda sideways asked me about my home and work life so I took pictures...a ton of them at both...so as not to overload y'all...I'm gonna post them in two different ones.
First up: School life! This is where I work and where I attempt to educate my hooligans. So follow along and I'll give y'all a little tour.

This is the view we have out of our window in the hallway. I'm on the third floor of a three story building. Note I said the hallway. The only thing I can see out of my window is the side of the school building.

Looking almost straight down out of the same window. I have no clue what the function of that blue thing is...other than for kids to walk into it and to freak people out.

The hallway after school. I was standing beside my room. My room is to the left. Right next to it and across from it are Science rooms. I'll remind you that I teach English.

Looking into my room from the hallway...yes our walls really are that creepy yellow color.

My room. I know...I need to clean it up. Biiiig surprise. And why yes, I do have a desk under that pile of papers. No I haven't actually sat at my desk since oh I don't know November? I do sit at the student's desk in front of it and conference with the kids or just take a break and I also grade papers there.

A view of my kids' desks from the side of the front of the room. Look! I have an overhead! (I'm pretty excited about this--it took me three months to get said overhead and I use it almost every day)

My March board. We learned about Ireland and St. Patrick's Day. I have almost 99% African American kids so this was something new to them.

Why yes, that is Yoda as motivation above my board...or as my kids call him "the ugly green dude". But hey it works for me...and in my job, I take my amusement and fun where I can get it.

My actual chalkboard...yes, I seriously still have a chalkboard...despite all the health concerns. I try to avoid writing on it and erasing it frequently, but as you can see...I do use it. Homework on the right, daily lessons on the left...and in the corner on the left--a count down to Spring Break!

A close-up of the due dates the kids got that day. Yes they had three things due the next day AND all class period to work on those three things.

The corner on the left next to my board. NJ Standards, objectives for the day, my heart from our "Love Is" board, 2 calendars, and one of our class rules.

Our Word Wall which changes depending on what we're doing...this is behind my desk because honestly that's about the only place for it.

A close up of my favorite alliteration "Round the Rugged Rock the Ragged Rascal Ran"...sound familiar? Yes, that is a Gaelic Storm line...like I said I have to take my amusement where I can get it.

My kids' persuasion posters. The object was to convince me to buy their product. Most of them actually came out pretty well. And the corner of MLK, Jr.

A close-up of the other copy of our Class rules...which yeah well apparently they're just suggestions.

We're starting a unit next week about what the kids would like to do when they grow up so these were some of the jobs they expressed interest in.

The few Black History Month essays they turned in. I have about 20 kids...you see how many turned in essays.
What you don't see is my paraprofessional's desk which is about where I was standing when I took this picture. Other than that, this is pretty much my classroom.
