Sewing Lady

I've been spending a lot of time working on different sewing projects. I got two of them finished recently, both of them baby samplers for friends. One was for a friend's new neice, ( To see her sampler )

and the other was for my best friend's son, ( To see his sampler )

Both sets of parents adored the samplers and hopefully when the babies get older they will also like them. :-)

My New Camera

So yes I did get a new camera for Christmas. And yes I realize I have been amiss in posting pictures that I have taken with said new camera. So since I have few subjects at my house (my animals being the only ones that don't complain when I take their pictures). I've decided to finally comb through the pictures I've taken in the past few months and post a few of them. Click on the link if you want to peek!

Taughannock Falls, NY

When I visited my sister back in February, I decided to stop at Taughannock Falls on my way home. Thae falls are located near Trumansburg in Upstate NY an we often stopped there as children. I don't recall ever stopping in the winter as children though. While I was there, I also taped a video in addition to taking pictures but am unable to upload it because of course it is over 100 MEGS. AUGH! A chunk of ice fell while I was there as did some rocks. It was very neat to see the area mostly frozen over.

Some facts about the falls:

1. Taughannock means "in the tees" in the Algonquin language. Although this area was settled by the Cayuga Indians, the word is Algonquin and is most likely named after a brave that led attacks on the Cayugas.

2. Frosts and floods (and I would assume ice) have chiseled the canyon for at least 12,000 years.

3. The falls are 215 feet high at the tallest point.

4. They are the tallest free-falling falls in the North-Eastern United States.
