Wedding Bells Ring
Jul. 1st, 2006 08:45 pmNo not for me. I spent the day in New Brunswick/Spotswood at Lenore and Frank's wedding. I worked with Lenore this past year.
So anyway since I have been really bad about updating this and my sister has threatened me with bodily harm, I decided since I actually have stuff to report, I would update.
Back to the 22nd of June. I went into work for the last day. I don't know why I had to be there. We had to report at 7:15 (I ran late and got there at 7:30) then we did nothing until 9:45 at which point they had a Union meeting about next year (so did not apply to me), then they gave out gifts to the leaving teachers (a very nice pen with our name etched into it--I haven't used it yet so am not sure how well it writes but its pretty). After that Sutor got up and thanked everyone for a good year and then started talking about next year (so did not apply to me again), then we stood around for like 45 minutes waiting to sign out. I handed in my gradebook and left. I had already been signed out. Although I did have to get my check so I guess that was the reason I went in.
On the 23rd, I went to my job interview. When I walked in the door, she began speaking to me as if I already had the job and before I left, I had signed the papers. Essentially I start on Wednesday (as in this week) and have 2 weeks of training before I start teaching. I will have no more than 5 students at any one time and 2 assistants. I will be teaching developmentally delayed students. It looks to be interesting and challanging and quite a difference from next year.
Last Tuesday, Gaelic Storm released pre-orders for their new CD. The first 200 people to order got it signed for free. I tried to order on-line but something was f-ed up and I ended up calling them but I did succeed in getting two copies ordered--one for Sis and one for me.
As for the wedding today. Lenore looked beautiful. She had a very simplistic dress (that fits her) with a square neckline with little rosebuds around it, then cap sleeves with sheer bottoms. It looked lovely on her. She was very cute coming down the asile, ducking her head and blushing. It was a very nice ceremony in a small Catholic church, lovely marble alter and gorgous stained glass windows and paintings. Anne said that the alter was the orginal alter. The girls wore aqua knee length sundress-type dresses and carried 5 daisies dyed different colors (dark blue, light blue, red, orangey-red, and yellow I think). The guys wore classic tuxes.
The reception was at the Knights of Columbus in Spotswood. Very nice little building, Lenore and Frank paid for everything themselves so they wanted to keep things simplistic. I sat with Jackie and her husband Joey and their daughter. Everyone else at our table was orginally from NYC so it was nice that although they were older than us, we knew many of the same places. Lenore and Frank danced to Amazed by Lonestar and Lenore and her dad danced to Butterfly Kisses, Lenore was crying by the end of the song so of course I was too. It was very sweet to see them together. Joey and Lexi (his daughter who's 2) were dancing on the side during the song, unfortunately I got no pictures cuz the batteries in my camera were dead. :-(
We had pretty good food. A ton of appatizers--including 2 different types of trays with like 7 different things, a fruit/cheese/cracker bar, and a hot table with kielbasa and saurquat, a type of sweddish meatballs, and scampi with shrimp and crab meat. The main course was a buffet with chicken francias, rare roast beef, corn and carrots for the veggies (not together), mashed potatos with gravy and tortelli.
I "won" the center peice, a plate with 3 flowers and a candle, then Lenore insisted I take one of the center peices--a vase with sea glass and a huge daisy--with me too. Their favor was 3 cookie cutters in the shape of hearts, very cute.
So that catches me up for now. I'll try to be better. Am going to lay down soon, the DJ was VERY loud and my head hurts, pretty much a migraine.
