Goals for the Year--Writing Wise

So I've had a long thought...yeah, okay. I've been thinking a lot--let's try that. I need some goals for the New Year--writing wise.
I want to stop writing so much fanfic. But first I do have a couple of stories (4) that I need to finish. 2 because they were challenges and 2 because they were presents promised to friends.
So those four:
Weekend Pass (for
paranoid_woman )
Birthday Trap (for
savecolby )
SGA-2 Saves the World (for
lostcityfound )
Speed/Trixie for Wild Thing
I'm working on WP right now and trying very hard to finish it by the end of this week. I've kinda stalled on the other three. I haven't started Wild's yet with everything else going on.
Now that I'm back on-line (yippee!), I'm back at writing meeting (double yippee!) So I am back to getting good, solid advice for my writing.
And now onto my original fiction...
I started these two for
littleowl1 for Christmas and I'd like to have them finished before her birthday in August (ideally) so I need to get started on them again. I'm pretty sure I know where I'm going with them, just need to write them.
Leave: Tristan's Story
Leave: Abigail's Story
I already submitted Never Again to Writing Meeting and got some great feedback--now I need to edit it (and name my characters!), have someone run through it again. Then I'm going to start shopping it again.
This week I've submitted The Dress Disaster to see if its worth pursuing. If it is, I want to finish it soon.
Next I have both Never Forget and Danse Macabre on tap to be submitted. I'd also like to submit The Vieux Carre Encounter and Drunken Scotsman possibly.
I'd also like to start editing The Leave Series and get the last few of those finished so I can hopefully get them together and ready for a publisher.
And finally, I re-opened Naughty Niceties in hopes that I would have some fun with that. The first deadline is February 28th.
Actual Dates
Weekend Pass done by January 31st
Never Again done by March 1st
Tristan and Abbey's Stories done by end of August (good sissy?)
Birthday Trap/SGA-2 done by (I think) April 15
The dates aren't firm because its going to depend on work, etc, but at least it gives me something to work towards. I'm going to leave the link public and give it to my writing group. So they and you can kick my ass and keep tabs on me.
So that's my plans for the next few months and into the year...game for kicking my ass?

I really hope you can finish all these stories. I can kick your ass if you want me to. :P

Date: 2009-01-25 08:25 pm (UTC)Yeah, exactly, and fan fiction while it improves my skills--is not going to get me of my ultimate goal of being published. I submitted two of the stories last year (Never Again and Danse) and both got rejected. Again nicely came back with a page of comments. :-)
Yes, kick my ass...this entry is going into my memories. And I'll try to keep it updated.

Date: 2009-01-25 11:52 pm (UTC)I'm also considering joining a local real life writing group. My friend that runs my on-line group told me where to look. So going to start there.
Thanks for the wishes! I'll keep ya posted! This one is in my memories (dunno if you can access it that way), but I'm going to attempt to update like once a month.

Date: 2009-01-26 12:06 am (UTC)Updates are good if only to remind and spur on.
BTW, I finished chapter 4 and put it up. So Thanksgiving is officially over.

Date: 2009-01-26 12:27 am (UTC)Yeah. Updates are really good. I'll try. I did really bad when I tried something similar to this two years ago, but yeah. We'll see.
Oooo, *goes to read, after she showers* Yippee!
